There are multiple types of redirections, and each one is useful in a certain scenario. The 301 Redirect is the standard for permanent redirection. When you’re creating a redirect to another URL permanently, you should use 301 Redirection code.302 Temporary Redirect
If you need to redirect a URL temporarily to another URL, you should use the 302 Temporary Redirect option.307 Temporary Redirect
The 307 is another temporary redirect and is similar to a 302 redirect, but with some technical differences. To explain it simply, when the search engines see a 307 redirect, they don’t cache it. That means if a request is made for the URL again, the search engines won’t go to the destination URL automatically and check the source URL again to see if the redirect is still in place.410 Content Deleted
If you’ve deleted a piece of content and have no suitable replacement for the content, you should not blindly redirect it to your home page. Instead, you should serve a 410 Content Deleted which will tell the search engines to naturally de-index the content.451 Content Unavailable For Legal Reasons
Not technically a redirect, but useful nevertheless. The 451 Content Unavailable is useful when there are legal reasons for blocking a piece of content. The legal reasons can be copyright, privacy, blasphemy, or any other law or court order.
Multiple Matching Methods
There are simple redirects which are easy to create and then there are complex redirects which are not so easy to understand, create, or manage. Bulk Operations
An underrated feature of the Redirection Manager is the bulk redirection creation feature. Let us explain that with an example. Usually, if you have 10 URLs that you need to redirect to a new URL, you have to create individual redirect rules for them. This is inefficient and wastes a ton of time.
In the Redirection Manager, the process is completely opposite. Here, you just copy all the URLs at the same time and paste it in the redirection URL field. The Redirection Manager will detect that you’ve pasted multiple URLs and create individual entries for each of them. What’s even better is that you can configure each of the entries with any of the matching methods we’ve mentioned above. After you’ve done that, you can create more entries to the redirect manually as you would normally do. This flexibility gives you a lot of power and speed when you’re creating redirects.
Advanced Options
Apart from creating and managing redirects, we’ve included some advanced options in the Redirection Manager which will help you diagnose issues and overall help with the administration of your site. Here are some of the options.
.htaccess Export
With this feature, you can export all your redirects in a single file that can be added to a .htaccess file. This is a useful feature when you’re migrating sites or copying your redirects to another website that uses an Apache server.Nginx Export
The Redirection Manager can also export all your redirects to an Nginx server compliant file. This feature is useful when you’re moving or copying your redirects to a website that uses the Nginx server.Debug Mode
This is one of the most important features of the Redirection Manager. When you’re fixing a couple of 404 errors, then the repercussions of making a mistake are small. However, if you’re creating a redirect rule that will affect thousands of URLs, you have to be absolutely sure that your configuration is 100% correct. To help with this process, we’ve included a debug mode inside the Redirection Manager.Once enabled, any redirect that happens on your website will be interrupted by an interstitial page. The page will display the source URL (that is being redirected) and the destination URL (where the redirection is taking you). The interstitial pauses the redirect for 5 seconds, after which the redirect takes place. However, you can pause the redirect entirely for diagnosis. The interstitial page also contains links that will take you to the specific URL that triggered the redirection, helping you diagnose misconfigured redirects in a jiffy.
Please note that the interstitial page is visible only to administrators of the website, and the end users will not be affected at all with this. Also note that all active redirects will work as usual while the administrator uses the debug mode as well, so the regular operation of your website is not affected in any way.
Extends the WordPress Auto Redirect
The Redirect Manager is stable, secure, and safe as it extends WordPress’s redirect functionality. This plugin2 big problems: 1) is redirecting everything , even thinks that they dont need redirection. 2) you cant exclude files , pages or photos from redirection.
I am trying to reach customer service to get access to my account so that I can submit a support ticket; however, HostGator is rejecting emails to info AT clogica DOT com stating there is, «No Such User Here.» My organization uses this plugin extensively, but we are unable to find the user login and password under which it was originally registered. We are working on re-developing the site and need the information. If you can please help, that would be greatly appreciated. If you understand the above title, you know how complicated a migration this was especially when I have 15 albums and 600 photos and videos! Seo-Redirection is the only plugin I found which could perform the task easily and has FOLDER level 301 Redirection! another amazing feature I didn’t find with other plugins I was able to export all past 301 from Yoast and Redirection plugins into Seo-Redirectino plugin, so now everything is in one place and can even be exported out and backed up easily And now with the premium version I was surprised to discover 1300+ 404 errors on my site! currently my developer is busy fixing these with Seo-Redirection premium and expects the SEO rank to go up a couple of notches on page-1 of Google Bravo

301 Redirects requires that you use anything but the default permalink structure.
- My redirects aren’t working
This could be caused by many things, but please ensure that you are supplying valid URLs. Most common are extra spaces, extra slashes, spelling mistakes and invalid characters. If you’re sure they’re right, chances are your browser has cached the 301 redirect (in an attempt to make the redirection faster for you), but sometimes it doesn’t refresh as fast as we would like. Clear your browser cache, or wait a few minutes to fix this problem.
My redirects aren’t working — the old .html page still shows
For this plugin to work, the page must be within the WordPress environment. If you are redirecting older .html or .php files, you must first delete them. The plugin can’t redirect if the file still exists, sorry! You should look into .htaccess redirects if you want to keep these files on your server.- My redirects aren’t getting the 301 status code

- How do I delete a redirect?
Click the small X beside the redirect you wish to remove.
- How do I add wildcards. or folder redirects?
Unfortunately this is not supported. You should look into .htaccess redirects for these advanced features.
- What about query strings?
By default, any URL with a query string is considered unique, and will redirect to a unique page (if you so wish). The query string will be added to the Destination URL, which allows you to keep your tracking codes, affiliate codes, and other important data!

Всем привет! Сегодня речь пойдёт о весьма интересном и полезном плагине для сайта на wordpress. Плагин предназначен для создания редиректа, то есть перенаправления, на другую страницу или на другой сайт. Допустим вы поменяли адрес страницы на вашем сайте, если страница уже находится в поисковой выдаче, то перейдя по ней будет открываться ошибка 404.
Чтобы поисковая система удалила несуществующую страницу из поиска, для этого понадобится время и всё это время пользователи будут попадать на страницу с ошибкой 404, это не есть хорошо. Поэтому можно сделать временный редирект, перенаправление со старой страницы на новую, до тех пор пока старая страница не исчезнет из поиска.
То же самое касается и всего сайта, например вы хотите переехать на новый домен, но ваш сайт со старым доменом уже закрепился в поиске, то есть поисковая система проиндексировала ваш сайт. Все ваши записи и страницы на старом домене по прежнему будут доступны в поиске, если вы не сделаете редирект, то вы можете потерпеть колоссальный ущерб для вашего сайта.

Для создания редиректа вы можете воспользоваться очень простым плагином 301 перенаправление.
Установить плагин вы сможете прямо из админ панели wordpress. Перейдите по вкладке: Плагины – Добавить новый, введите название плагина в форму поиска, нажмите Enter, установите и активируйте плагин. Чтобы найти данный плагин, в поле поиска введите только число 301 и нажмите Enter.
Чтобы создать перенаправление, перейдите по вкладке: Настройки – redirectw.
Перенаправление записи или страницы
Если вы хотите перенаправить всего одну запись или страницу, тогда в поле Source укажите ярлык (название страницы, которое указано в URL адресе) страницы или записи, которую вы хотите перенаправить на новый адрес, перед названием поставьте слеш (наклонная линия). А в поле Target укажите полный адрес страницы, только уже с новым доменом. Нажмите на кнопку – Add.
/karta – ярлык, название страницы, которое указано в URL адресе, в самом конце, после домена. (Source)

Перенаправление главной страницы сайта
Чтобы перенаправить главную страницу сайта на новый домен, в поле Target укажите адрес нового сайта, поле Source оставьте пустым, здесь ничего не нужно указывать, так как адрес главной страницы без приставки. Нажмите на кнопку – Add.

301 переадресацию удобно использовать в таких случаях:

Как сделать 301 редирект в WordPress
Для создания редиректа в WordPress мы будем использовать отличный плагин — Redirection. Теперь давайте пошагово разберем как создать 301 редирект.
Для того чтобы создать перенаправление нужно:
1. Установить и активировать плагин Redirection.
2. После того как мы установили и активировали плагин переходим в Инструменты -> Redirection.
3. В открывшемся окне нужно сделать следующее:
- в Source URL нужно указать старый URL-адрес, при переходе на который мы хотим переходить на другую страницу;
- в Target URL указываем новый URL-адрес, на который мы будем переходить при клике на ссылку, указанную в Source URL;
- ставим галочку в Regular expression;
- после того как вы указали URL-ы нажимаем кнопку Add Redirection.
Готово! Перенаправление создано!
Как создать временный редирект в WordPress
В случае, если вам нужно создать временный редирект или изменить 301 на 307 нужно:
1. Создаем перенаправление как в примере выше, если оно еще не создано.
2. Нажимаем «Edit» на нужном нам редиректе.
3. Нажимаем на прямоугольник. (1 на рис.). Выбираем в выпадающем списке 307 — Temporary Redirect (2 на рис.). Нажимаем кнопку «Save».
Готово! Как видите, всего за несколько кликов можно создать временное перенаправление или изменить уже созданное ранее перенаправление на временное.

FIRST — make sure it is active if using Individual Redirects (set up on the edit page for a post or page). Then, check to make sure the global option to turn off all redirects is not checked (in the plugin options).
SECOND — if you are using Quick Redirects, try using links relative to the root (so ‘http://mysite.com/contact/’ would be ‘/contact/’ if using the root path). If your site is in a sub-folder (set in Settings/General), do not use the sub-folder in the root path as it is already taken into consideration by WordPress.
NEXT — clear your site’s cache files if you are using a caching plugin/theme. You may also need to clear your browser cache and internet files if you use caching — the browser WILL hold cached versions of a page and not redirect if there was no redirect in the cached version.
FINALLY — if you are not using a permalink structure of some sort, it is recommended that you set up at least a basic one. Redirects without a permalink structure can be inconsistant.
If your page or post is still not redirecting, then it is most likely because something else like the theme functions file or another plugin is outputting the header BEFORE the plugin can perform the redirect. This can be tested by turning off all plugins except the Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin and testing if the redirect works. many time a plugin or bad code is the culprit — or the redirect is just simply turned off.
We have tested the plugin in dozens of themes and a whole lot more plugins. In our experience, (with exception to a few bugs) many times another plugin or the theme scripting is the problem. Yes, you can, but you do not always need to. If you are redirecting to an external URL, then yes. If you are just redirecting to another page or post on your site, then no, it is not needed. When in doubt, use the entire URL. For Quick Redirects, it is recommended that you use relative URLs whenever possible.

- What type of redirect it is
- What content is on the redirected page.
If you use a redirect of 301 AND the content on the destination URL is the same as the original page (just a different URL), then allof the ranking and ‘link juice’, as they say, will stay with the page.

No. There is a Quick Redirects feature that allows you to create a redirect for any URL on your site. This is VERY helpful when you move an old site to WordPress and have old links that need to go some place new. For example,
If you had a link on a site that went to http://yoursite.com/aboutme.html you can now redirect that to http://yoursite.com/about/ without needing to edit the htaccess file. You simply add the old URL (/aboutme.html) and tell it you want to go to the new one (/about/). Simple as that.
The functionality is located in the QUICK REDIRECTS menu. The old URL goes in the Request field and the to new URL goes in the Destination field. Simple and Quick!
YES… and NO… The redirect will always work on a Published Post/Page. For it to work correctly on a Post/Page in DRAFT status, you need to fist publish the page, then re-save it as a draft. If you don’t follow that step, you will get a 404 error.
YES, you can add a ‘ rel=»nofollow» ‘ attribute for the redirect link. Simply check the «add rel=nofollow» box when setting up the redirect on the page/post edit page. Note — this option is only available for the Quick Redirects method when the ‘Use jQuery?’ functionality is enabled in the settings and you select the ‘NF’ box for the corresponding redirect.
YES, you can make the redirect link open in a new window. Simply check the «Open in a new window» box when setting up the individual redirect on the page/post edit page. Note — this option is only available for the Quick Redirects method when the ‘Use jQuery?’ functionality is enabled in the settings and you select the ‘NW’ box for the corresponding redirect.
First, make sure you have the ‘Use jQuery?’ option set in the options page. This funcitonality drastically increases the plugin’s ability to add the correct properties and attributes to the links to make them work as desired.
If you cannot us this option (because of a conflict with another script), then you may only have limited success with this feature.
The reason — some themes put custom links in the menu, like RSS and other similar items. Many times (an this is usually the main reason why), they do not use the WP hook to add the menu item to the list — they literally just put it there. Unless the theme uses the internal WordPress hooks to call the menu, redirects, open in a new window and rel=nofollow features just will not work.
ADDITIONALLY — Links in page/post content and Permalinks will not open in a new window or add the rel=nofollow. That is because the theme template actually sets up the links by calling «the_permalink()» function so add these elements is not consistently possible so it has been excluded from the functionality. The links will still redirect just fine but without that feature.
YES, you can hide the original page link and have it replaced with the redirect link. Any place the theme calls either «wp_page_links», «post_links» or «page_links» functions, the plugin can replace the original link with the new one. Simply check the «Show Redirect URL» box when setting up the redirect on the page/post edit page.
Note — This option is available for the Quick Redirects only with the ‘Use jQuery?’ option enabled.
YES! Just set up a Quick Redirect (see above) and set the Request URL to /my-name/ or /my-product/ and the Destination URL to the place you want it to go. The destination doesn’t even need to be on the same site — it can go anywhere you want it to go!
Good question! The number corresponds with the header code that is returned to the browser when the page is first accessed. A good page, meaning something was found, returns a 200 status code and that tells the browser to go ahead and keep loading the content for the page. If nothing is found a 404 error is returned (and we have ALL seen these — usually it is a bad link or a page was moved). There are many other types of codes, but those are the most common.
The 300+ range of codes in the header tells the browser (and search engine spider) that the original page has moved to a new location — this can be just a new file name a new folder or a completely different site.
A 301 code means that you want to tell the browser (or Google, bing, etc.) that your new page has permanently moved to a new location. This is great for search engines because it lets them know that there was a page there once, but now go to the new place to get it — and they update there old link to is so future visitors will not have to go through the same process.
A 302 or 307 code tell the browser that the file was there but TEMPORARILY it can be found at a new location. This will tell the search engines to KEEP the old link in place because SOME day it will be back at the same old link. There is only a slight difference between a 302 and a 307 status. Truth is, 302 is more widely used, so unless you know why you need a 307, stick with a 302.
Easiest way to decide is this: If you want the page to permanently change to a new spot, use 301. If you are editing the page or post and only want it to be down for a few hours, minutes, days or weeks and plan on putting it back with the same link as before, then us 302. If you are having trouble with the redirects, use a meta redirect. The meta redirect actually starts to load the page as a 200 good status, then redirects using a meta redirect tag.
Still not sure? Try 302 for now — at least until you have a little time to read up on the subject.
Yes, use the URL as normal, and add ?action=no-redirect to the query data (or &action=no-redirect if there is already query data present).
